When Things Come Apart (two Videos) - by Deborah Davies (British)

The two short Videos below show this work being installed in two different formats : Full scale (outdoors) and at a smaller scale (in a Gallery).
Materials : 5 cm x 5 cm (2” x 2”) construction timber and coach screws. Size: Site specific.

Deborah : "I have installed this at full scale measuring 8.4 meters by 3.5 meters and 3.5meters and I have also installed it in smaller spaces, where I exhibited it lying on its side, therefore taking up much less room.

It must always be exhibited in a state of collapse as that is the message of 'Liberty in decline'. Even when it was exhibited fully erected it was shown in a state of collapse with panels taken off and configured in such a way as to make a wall.

This piece comprises of over 100 glued and screwed panels enabling it to be constructed in such a way as to be site specific. Therefore, no two showings of it are the same but the fundamental message is the same. The notion of liberty in demise, racism and separateness are more dominant now than the ideals of inclusivity."
